Home Learning Theme:  In God We Trust.

PARENT PITCH:  One way to teach this theme is to show your child our nation’s motto on a dollar bill (or a coin).  Tell them that we use money and trust God, rather than the other way around.  Teach that God is your boss too.

1.  Help your child realize that heaven is our real home.

MEMORY VERSE:  “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.  In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.”  John 14:1-2.

2.  God’s the Boss!  Teach the Ten Commandments (see appendix)

BIBLE RESOURCE:  See Exodus 20:1-17 or Deuteronomy 5:6-22).  Use the Bible or see the appendix for a simplified list of the Ten Commandments for easy learning.  You can count them off on your fingers.

3. Teach that God’s Majesty is Massive!

MEMORY VERSE:  “For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.”  Psalm 95:3.

MEMORY VERSE:  “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.  Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.”  1 Chronicles 29:11.

4.  Teach that God’s Love is Forever!

DEVOTIONAL or BEDTIME READING:  The 23rd Psalm (use Bible version of your choice)

MEMORY VERSE:  “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”  Psalm 107:1.

MEMORY VERSE:  “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”   Isaiah 54:10.

5.  Acknowledge that God is in Charge!

MEMORY VERSE:  “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28.

MEMORY VERSE:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge us, and He will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5-6.

6.  Assure your child that no matter how tough the task, God can do it!

MEMORY VERSE:  “Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”  Jeremiah 32:17.

The Steadfast Love of the Lord (Lamentations 3:22-24)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,

            His mercies never come to an end;

            They are new every morning.

            Great is Thy faithfulness

The Lord is my portion says my soul,

Therefore I will hope in Him.

What a Mighty God We Serve!

What a Mighty God we serve

What a Mighty God we serve

    Angels bow before Him,

     Heaven and earth adore Him,

What a Mighty God we serve!

PARENT POSTSCRIPT:  Introduce your child to a trustworthy God who is a lawgiver and judge while ALSO a loving merciful Shepherd.  Also, invite your child’s Sunday School teacher to your home and show your six-year-old how you appreciate the job she/he is doing.
