Learning Theme: Celebrate
Salvation.
PARENT PITCH: No one is a Christian who does not
understand sin personally. Sin is what
alienates us from God and it is what God saves us from, ultimately. When we know how bad sin is and how it effects us, then we are ready to celebrate our rescue from
it by Jesus Christ, our Savior. Let your
child see, in appropriate ways, that you know you are a sinner and that God
saved you by His tender mercies.
1.
Sin is separation, even to the point of death.
MEMORY VERSE: “Surely
the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his
ear too dull to hear. But
your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his
face from you, so that he will not hear.”
Isaiah 59:1-2.
MEMORY VERSE: “For the
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.” Romans 6:23.
2.
Forgiveness reunites us with God and restores our joy.
MEMORY VERSE: “Create
in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take
your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me
the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalm 51:10-12
INFINITE FORGIVENESS: “For as high as the heavens are
above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the
east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.” Psalm 103:11-13.
3.
Why did Jesus come to earth?
MEMORY VERSE: “But you
know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins.” 1 John 3:5.
MEMORY VERSE: “For the
Son of Man
came to seek
and to save
what was lost.”
Luke 19:10.
4.
Teach the significance of Jesus‘ Death, Burial
& Resurrection (DBR).
MEMORY VERSE: “For what I
received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our
sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the
third day according
to the Scriptures.” 1
Corinthians 15:3-4.
MEMORY VERSE: “I
want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of
sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death and so, somehow, to
attain the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:10-11.
5.
Teach the significance of baptism.
MEMORY VERSE: “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in
the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:38.
MEMORY VERSE: “We were
therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as
Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may
live a new life.” Romans 6:4.
6. Salvation makes you
NEW & better!
MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
MEMORY VERSE: “Be kind and compassionate to one
another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32.
7.
Salvation brings eternal life!
MEMORY VERSE: “For God
so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in
him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16.
MEMORY VERSE: “The one who sows
to please the Sprit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:8.

Romans

PARENT POSTSCRIPT: Your child needs you to help them travel
the road between legitimate guilt and joyful forgiveness. Show them the everlasting joys of salvation,
without resorting to sin-denial. Real
joy cannot be reached by side-stepping repentance. But real joy is indeed our legacy, forever.
