Home Learning Theme: Faith, Hope & Love.
This entire Learning guide works
every bit as well for adults as it can for kids, though our memory skills get
weak. Remember that all memory verses
are best understood in their context.
1.
Set a godly example.
MEMORY VERSE: “To this you were called, because
Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that
you should follow in his steps.” 1
Peter 2:21.
MEMORY VERSE: “A new command I give you: Love
one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my
disciples, if you love one another.” John
13:34-35.
MEMORY VERSE: “Your attitude should be the same
as that of Christ Jesus...” Philippians 2:5 (see the full text at
Philippians 2:5-11).
2.
Let “abundant living” be your legacy so your child will inherit
REAL riches from you.
MEMORY VERSE: “The
thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life,
and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 (NASB).
MEMORY VERSE: “Command
them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to
share.” 1 Timothy
6:18.
MEMORY VERSE: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and
admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and
spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed,
do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father
through him.” Colossians
3:16-17.
3.
Make an honest living (teach a Christian work ethic).
MEMORY VERSE: “Dishonest
money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.” Proverbs 13:11.
MEMORY VERSE: “Make it
your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with
your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of
outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12.
MEMORY VERSE: “If a man
will not work, he shall not eat.” 2
Thessalonians 3:10.
MEMORY VERSE: “David
also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD
God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all
the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.” 1 Chronicles 28:20.
4.
Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and you children!
MEMORY VERSE: “Though
the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from
afar.” Psalm 138:6.
MEMORY VERSE: “If my
people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my
face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will
forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14.
MEMORY VERSE: “For
everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be
exalted.” Luke 14:11.
MEMORY VERSE: “Nobody should
seek his own
good, but the
good of others”
1 Corinthians 10:24.
5.
God’s Wrath is Real!
MEMORY VERSE: “The
wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and
wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be
known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s
invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Romans 1:18-20.
6.
There is joy in generosity!
MEMORY VERSE: “A
generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25.
MEMORY VERSE: “Remember
this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows
generously will also reap generously.
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not
reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.
7.
Trust God. His plan is
unfolding!
MEMORY VERSE: “You
intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now
being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis
50:20.
MEMORY VERSE: “And we
know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have
been called according to his purpose.” Romans
8:28.
Motto: “Love to learn and you’ll learn to love!”
Bonus Passages:
MEMORY VERSE: “Does not the ear
test words as the tongue tastes food? Is
not wisdom found among the aged? Does
not long life bring understanding?” Job 12:11-12.
MEMORY VERSE: “I know, O Lord,
that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.”
Jeremiah 10:23.
MEMORY VERSE: “And if the
Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised
Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his
Spirit, who lives in you.” Romans
8:11.
MEMORY VERSE: “What is more,
I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing
Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them as rubbish,
that I may gain Christ.” Philippians 3:8.
MEMORY VERSE: “And whatever
you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17.
MEMORY VERSE: “Dear friends, do
not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from
God.” 1 John 4:1.
